Sofia Kisselov - Painter & Sculptor Sofia Kisselov was born in Cracow, Poland and comes from a cosmopolitan Jewish family. Together with her younger brother, she survived the Second World War. Sofia began to study painting and sculpture at the Cracow Art Academy and, after immigrating to Israel, continued at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem. Her work is characterized by many biographical elements which reflect a society in which cultures clash, merge and divide, finally breeding a new mode of being. The paintings reflect fractions of memories, compassion, suffering and particularly, a strong desire for life. Her context is both Eastern and Western, stamped by her Classical training and the Middle Eastern arena in which she lives and works. Stemming from these diverse and charge sources, her work emerges as a totally new and modern entity. Museum, Tefen
